Bhojpuri interpreting services
Bhojpuri has several regional forms, usually grouped as Northern, Southern and Western Standard Bhojpuri and Nagpuria, and its heartland runs through Varanasi, Gorakhpur and the old Shahabad region around Arrah and Buxar. Overseas, the Bhojpuri of Mauritius and the Hindustani of the Caribbean, itself built mainly on Bhojpuri and Awadhi, have gone their own way. Tell us where the speaker's family is from and we will look for a close match. Bhojpuri is not simply Hindi with another accent: it forms its present tense differently and its pronouns follow their own rules of respect, so an interpreter who actually speaks it matters for anything detailed. Consecutive interpreting suits most bookings, and video widens the search.
Face-to-face interpreting
The interpreter comes to you: a hospital ward, a courtroom, a council office, a home visit or a business meeting. It is the best choice when people need to read expressions as well as words, or when the conversation is long or sensitive.
Telephone interpreting
The quickest option to set up. It works well for short calls, triage, appointment reminders and quick checks with a client.
Video interpreting
A Bhojpuri interpreter joins by video for remote hearings, consultations and meetings, which helps when there is no interpreter near you.
We also provide medical interpreting and conference interpreting.
Certified Bhojpuri translation
Each of our translators works into their native language, so Bhojpuri material is put into English by native English speakers. Official paperwork from the Bhojpuri districts of India is rarely in Bhojpuri itself, which was historically written in the Kaithi script and has been written mainly in Devanagari since the 1890s. From Nepal the picture differs: national papers are in Nepali, while in Madhesh Province Bhojpuri is one of the official languages, alongside Nepali, Maithili and Bajjika. If what you have is a recording rather than a document, we can transcribe it and translate it into English.
- Certified translation of birth, marriage and death certificates, passports, driving licences, degree certificates and bank statements, for the Home Office, courts, universities and employers.
- Legal translation: witness statements, court bundles, contracts and immigration papers.
- Document translation of medical reports, letters, leaflets and patient information.
- Urgent translation when a deadline is close.
- Transcription of Bhojpuri audio and video recordings, with an English translation if you need one.
English to Bhojpuri translation
Written Bhojpuri uses Devanagari, the same script as Hindi, but many Bhojpuri speakers learned to read in Hindi and read it more easily than their own language on paper. For a leaflet or a formal letter, Hindi is usually the better choice. Bhojpuri comes into its own where warmth and recognition matter: a community message, or a script for audio or video, where hearing their own language makes people stop and listen. Tell us who the readers are and what the text is for, and we will advise.
Bhojpuri court and police interpreters
Bhojpuri is not one of the languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of India's constitution, though Jharkhand gave it second-language status in 2018 and it is an official language of Nepal's Madhesh Province. In a UK court the only question is what the witness understands best. We look for Bhojpuri interpreters with experience of legal work and, where interpreters holding them exist for Bhojpuri, the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Law) or registration with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI). If only a Hindi interpreter can be found, ask the witness before the hearing whether they are content to give evidence in Hindi.
How to book a Bhojpuri interpreter
- Tell us about the assignment: the date, time and address, or that you need telephone or video; how long it should last; and what it is for, such as a hospital appointment, a hearing or a business meeting.
- Tell us about the speaker: their country or region and, if you know it, their dialect. Mention any preference for a male or female interpreter.

Bhojpuri interpreter and translator FAQs
How quickly can I book a Bhojpuri interpreter?
We take bookings 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Telephone and video interpreting are usually the quickest to arrange. For a face-to-face appointment, give us as much notice as you can: same-day cover is often possible, but it depends on where you are and how many Bhojpuri interpreters work nearby.
How much does a Bhojpuri interpreter cost?
The price depends on the type of interpreting (face-to-face, telephone or video), how long the appointment lasts, where it is and how much notice you give. We quote before anything is booked, and quotes are free: call 0800 2425 125 or use our online quote form.
Can you certify Bhojpuri translations for a UK visa or immigration application?
Yes. We translate and certify documents such as birth and marriage certificates, passports and police certificates for visa, settlement and citizenship applications. UK Visas and Immigration asks for each translation to confirm that it is accurate and to show the date and the translator's full name, signature and contact details, so tell us when you order that the document is for an immigration application. Because Bhojpuri is not written in the Latin alphabet, send us the passport spelling of every name so the translation matches it.
Do you provide Bhojpuri interpreters for courts, tribunals and police interviews?
Yes. Tell us the setting when you book, for example a Crown Court trial, an immigration tribunal hearing or a police interview under caution, so we can match a Bhojpuri interpreter with the right legal experience and qualifications.
