Baluchi interpreting services

Baluchi reaches well beyond Balochistan: there are speakers in Oman and the other Gulf states, in Turkmenistan and in East Africa. A client from Oman may have Arabic as a second language rather than Urdu or Persian, which changes who can step in if no Baluchi interpreter is free. The best match is a native Baluchi speaker from the client's own country; next, with the client's agreement, one from another Baluchi-speaking area; and only as a last resort, and with consent, interpreting through a second language. Keep sentences short and check understanding as you go. Consecutive interpreting suits Baluchi appointments, and video brings a distant interpreter to you.

Face-to-face interpreting

The interpreter comes to you: a hospital ward, a courtroom, a council office, a home visit or a business meeting. It is the best choice when people need to read expressions as well as words, or when the conversation is long or sensitive.

Telephone interpreting

The quickest option to set up. It works well for short calls, triage, appointment reminders and quick checks with a client.

Video interpreting

A Baluchi interpreter joins by video for remote hearings, consultations and meetings, which helps when there is no interpreter near you.

We also provide medical interpreting and conference interpreting.

Certified Baluchi translation

Written Baluchi is uncommon in official life. Pakistani identity cards are in Urdu and English and Iranian certificates in Persian, so the papers a Baluchi speaker brings usually need translating from Urdu, Persian or English rather than from Baluchi. Baluchi itself turns up in personal letters, poetry and recordings. It is usually written in the Perso-Arabic script, in the Nastaliq style used for Urdu, although scholars have also worked on a Latin alphabet, including at a workshop at Uppsala University in 2000, and spelling is not fully standardised.

Translators on this work always write in their native language: a Baluchi text comes from a native Baluchi speaker and an English one from a native English speaker. If we cannot find the right Baluchi translator for a particular job, we will tell you so rather than compromise.

  • Certified translation of birth, marriage and death certificates, passports, driving licences, degree certificates and bank statements, for the Home Office, courts, universities and employers.
  • Legal translation: witness statements, court bundles, contracts and immigration papers.
  • Document translation of medical reports, letters, leaflets and patient information.
  • Urgent translation when a deadline is close.
  • Transcription of Baluchi audio and video recordings, with an English translation if you need one.

English to Baluchi translation

Before commissioning a Baluchi translation, ask whether your readers can read Baluchi at all; many learned to read only in Urdu or Persian. For them an Urdu or Persian version, or a Baluchi audio recording, may work better than a printed Baluchi leaflet. Where written Baluchi is right, we use the Perso-Arabic script and plain, widely understood words, and we ask which dialect area your readers come from.

Baluchi court and police interpreters

Legal work in Baluchi needs planning, because the pool of interpreters is small. For hearings and interviews we look for a Baluchi interpreter with legal experience, and where one holds the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Law) or is registered with the NRPSI, we ask them first. If no Baluchi interpreter can be found, relay interpreting through Urdu or Persian, using two interpreters, is sometimes the answer, but only if the client agrees and the court or tribunal accepts it, and the record should say how the evidence was interpreted.

How to book a Baluchi interpreter

  1. Tell us about the assignment: the date, time and address, or that you need telephone or video; how long it should last; and what it is for, such as a hospital appointment, a hearing or a business meeting.
  2. Tell us about the speaker: their country or region and, if you know it, their dialect. Mention any preference for a male or female interpreter.
  3. Get your quote. We email you a quote, with no obligation to book.

Baluchi interpreter and translator FAQs

How quickly can I book a Baluchi interpreter?

We take bookings 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Telephone and video interpreting are usually the quickest to arrange. For a face-to-face appointment, give us as much notice as you can: same-day cover is often possible, but it depends on where you are and how many Baluchi interpreters work nearby.

How much does a Baluchi interpreter cost?

The price depends on the type of interpreting (face-to-face, telephone or video), how long the appointment lasts, where it is and how much notice you give. We quote before anything is booked, and quotes are free: call 0800 2425 125 or use our online quote form.

Can you certify Baluchi translations for a UK visa or immigration application?

Yes. We translate and certify documents such as birth and marriage certificates, passports and police certificates for visa, settlement and citizenship applications. UK Visas and Immigration asks for each translation to confirm that it is accurate and to show the date and the translator's full name, signature and contact details, so tell us when you order that the document is for an immigration application. Because Baluchi is not written in the Latin alphabet, send us the passport spelling of every name so the translation matches it.

Do you provide Baluchi interpreters for courts, tribunals and police interviews?

Yes. Tell us the setting when you book, for example a Crown Court trial, an immigration tribunal hearing or a police interview under caution, so we can match a Baluchi interpreter with the right legal experience and qualifications.
