Armenian interpreting services
Educated speakers of Eastern and Western Armenian can usually understand one another, but pronunciation, vocabulary and verb forms differ enough to slow a conversation down, and in a consultation or an interview slow means mistakes. We match the interpreter to the client's standard wherever we can. Second languages count too. People raised in Soviet or post-Soviet Armenia often switch to Russian for technical subjects, while diaspora families from the Middle East may know Arabic, Turkish or French. For most bookings consecutive interpreting is right; for a long conference or a board meeting, ask us about simultaneous.
Face-to-face interpreting
The interpreter comes to you: a hospital ward, a courtroom, a council office, a home visit or a business meeting. It is the best choice when people need to read expressions as well as words, or when the conversation is long or sensitive.
Telephone interpreting
The quickest option to set up. It works well for short calls, triage, appointment reminders and quick checks with a client.
Video interpreting
A Armenian interpreter joins by video for remote hearings, consultations and meetings, which helps when there is no interpreter near you.
We also provide medical interpreting and conference interpreting.
Certified Armenian translation
We translate civil registration certificates from Armenia, school and university diplomas, powers of attorney, court judgments and medical records, and papers issued in Armenian by churches and community schools abroad. Every translator works into their native language, so an Armenian certificate is translated into English by a native English speaker, and each certified translation is signed for UK use.
Spelling rules differ as well as sounds. Armenia uses the reformed spelling brought in under Soviet rule in 1922 and revised in 1940, while Western Armenians and the community in Iran keep the older classical spelling. Surnames ending in -yan in Armenia are usually written -ian in the diaspora, so we copy the form in the passport.
- Certified translation of birth, marriage and death certificates, passports, driving licences, degree certificates and bank statements, for the Home Office, courts, universities and employers.
- Legal translation: witness statements, court bundles, contracts and immigration papers.
- Document translation of medical reports, letters, leaflets and patient information.
- Urgent translation when a deadline is close.
- Transcription of Armenian audio and video recordings, with an English translation if you need one.
English to Armenian translation
Choose the target standard before we start. A leaflet for newcomers from Armenia should be in Eastern Armenian with reformed spelling; a notice for a diaspora church or school should be in Western Armenian with classical spelling. Using the wrong one is not fatal, but it tells readers the text was not written for them. Tell us the audience and we will quote.
Armenian court and police interpreters
In court an Armenian defendant or witness from Armenia and one from Lebanon may need different interpreters, and it is worth checking before the listing. We look for Armenian interpreters who have legal experience and, where interpreters holding them exist for Armenian, the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Law) or registration with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI). Remote interpreting by video can cover a short hearing anywhere in the country when the court allows it.
How to book an Armenian interpreter
- Tell us about the assignment: the date, time and address, or that you need telephone or video; how long it should last; and what it is for, such as a hospital appointment, a hearing or a business meeting.
- Tell us about the speaker: their country or region and, if you know it, their dialect. Mention any preference for a male or female interpreter.
- Get your quote. We email you a quote, with no obligation to book.

About the Armenian language
Armenian is an Indo-European language that forms a branch of its own, spoken mainly in Armenia and the Armenian diaspora. It is the official language of Armenia.
Armenian is written in its own alphabet, created in the early fifth century. Varieties include Eastern Armenian, spoken in Armenia and Iran, and Western Armenian, the language of the diaspora in Lebanon, Syria, France and the United States.
Before you book: Eastern and Western Armenian use different spelling rules and some different grammar, so tell us which one a document is in, or where the speaker's family comes from.

Armenian interpreter and translator FAQs
How quickly can I book an Armenian interpreter?
We take bookings 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Telephone and video interpreting are usually the quickest to arrange. For a face-to-face appointment, give us as much notice as you can: same-day cover is often possible, but it depends on where you are and how many Armenian interpreters work nearby.
How much does an Armenian interpreter cost?
The price depends on the type of interpreting (face-to-face, telephone or video), how long the appointment lasts, where it is and how much notice you give. We quote before anything is booked, and quotes are free: call 0800 2425 125 or use our online quote form.
Does the Armenian dialect matter when booking an interpreter?
It can. Armenian varieties include Eastern Armenian, spoken in Armenia and Iran, and Western Armenian, the language of the diaspora in Lebanon, Syria, France and the United States. Tell us where the speaker is from, or the dialect they use, so the interpreter is a good match for them.
Can you certify Armenian translations for a UK visa or immigration application?
Yes. We translate and certify documents such as birth and marriage certificates, passports and police certificates for visa, settlement and citizenship applications. UK Visas and Immigration asks for each translation to confirm that it is accurate and to show the date and the translator's full name, signature and contact details, so tell us when you order that the document is for an immigration application. Because Armenian is not written in the Latin alphabet, send us the passport spelling of every name so the translation matches it.
Do you provide Armenian interpreters for courts, tribunals and police interviews?
Yes. Tell us the setting when you book, for example a Crown Court trial, an immigration tribunal hearing or a police interview under caution, so we can match an Armenian interpreter with the right legal experience and qualifications.
